Ok, girls...get ready to set FIRE to Field 4A on Thursday 5:30 sharp! Bring out your best, and wear your GREY jersey.
Coach and all of us FIRE followers were revved up and ready for more after last weeks game. Let's keep it together and remember the drills from practice. Work together, HEADS UP, make sure you are open to accept passes or make sure there is someone there to accept your pass. Don't hesitate on those throw-ins, find your team, drag your toe and ATTACK!
Let's go FIRE, LET'S GO!

5-1 FIRE! Holy Smoke!

Did you see that? I'm sorry to all you soccer dads that are embarrassed by us enthusiastic soccer moms, but when our girls are playing their hearts out it's too hard to resist the urge to add kindling to this FIRE! We've got us a team that sizzles.
The first half of Thursdays game was a steamrolling tactic - intimidating the opponent - Coach, I'm sure, couldn't have been more proud. Next game I hope that heat can be maintained into the second half. Maybe it will be a tad cooler so that FIRE will be the only heat on that field.
FIRE went right into offensive mode and didn't let up the whole first half. Goal after smokin' goal went in. They started off by a blistering center shot by lefty "Hollywood". As I look at the pictures that goal was brought about by a power assist by Syd. She cut off two players on CREW to open the field for that possibility.
Not even a breath later we had a power punch to goal by Syd the Vicious herself! Oh yes she did - she pounded that ball in with no quarter given. This time G-Mack (mini bomb) and Hollywood held the opponent off surrounding the ball slinging Syd to GOAL!
Things were just getting a little steamy when Hollywood snuck in another stinger (This time with a right hook) thanks to a MAJOR assist from "Lil' Trooper" who kept the ball in site of Crews goal with her severe concentration and tenacity. I think she's gotten over the practice nose bleed and was all over that ball!
Now on to the unnick-named "K" RAH RAH kick em in the knee (or in this case, GOAL!) "K" Rock (kinda like that) on defense decided we didn't have enough points and our offense was doing such a good job of keeping the ball up field that in a defensive/offensive maneuver sprang a roller into the goal from almost mid field that caught CREW unawares. She was so far from the goal, I have 8 frames of ball rolling right past their goalie. Sweet is the sound of the cheering crowd!
There was a lull in the game, the crowd was hushed, many attempts to charge our goal (more on our HOT HOT HOT defense later) and we were thinking; half time is quickly approaching, when out of nowhere little G-Mack steals the ball from Crew 47 and beats out their defender, who was still reeling from our other offensive players Hollywood and Lil Trooper, to confuse their goalie by slipping a quick jab into the GOAL by side stepping her last ditch effort to guard! It was an awesome thing.
The second half was just as exciting but it was filled with OH SO CLOSE shots fired. I think our girls tired out but were still pushing themselves to cook us up some points.
Now I need to focus on those gals that may think they've been left out. We all have a taste for the goals, it's always wonderful to be a part of a winning team, but that can't happen without THE TEAM. If it weren't for Little P, ToombRaider, "K"Rock (and another K) "K" Force-not to be reckoned with, this win would not have happened. Oh yes, they were all there diligently passing and defending all working together to make sure that that ball stayed up field. A few tries at goals that were just a little off happened but since the defense had been so intense throughout the game we forget to think on anything but the pushes to the goal. WOW! "K" Force is outstanding at pacing her defenders and watching her goal at the same time. We really need to remember that! I know I focused a lot on the goals, but I've said it before and I will say it ALL THE TIME...Offense wins the day, Defense SAVES the day! This match, both where used liberally.
OK, I've been a little wordy...and I have tons more pictures! Hopefully, you can click on each image for a larger view, I made them smaller to fit more in. See you all at practice on Tuesday.

FIRE is fast...

Well, we had a little hair swishin'...

And a bit of a pre-play conferencin'

And a lot of linin'!
What we had missing were some great shots of the action! I'm a novice with my camera in low light at this point and this whole "image stabilization" thing is NOT workin' yet (sorry). That cannot take away from the AWESOME practice FIRE had tonight! We are really seeing things come together and I think FIRE is going to show CREW who's WHO on Thursday. WE ARE FIRE, AND WE ARE GONNA BURN YOU UP!
Shout out to all the HOT Mamas
Thank you so much for all stepping up for the game snack schedule! Ya'll ROCK! I think we have all games covered but one, and I'll take this one since I have something a little special planned that game. I'll email the schedule in a bit so everyone knows who has what in case of scheduling conflicts. Once again thank you for bringing your girls and supporting TEAM FIRE!
Let's get 'em girls, remember SAD! Sizzlin' Agression DOMINATES! (Oh wait, the coach never said that...)
See you Thursday at 5:30 Field 4B - WEAR YOUR GREY! FIRE IT UP, FIRE IT UP!

Flames and Stuff - Burn Baby!

Game 9/17/2009 (Galaxy - we are RED jersey this game)The jury is still out for Game play tomorrow, if we get any rain (and it's raining now here) they may cancel, please check emails before heading out for an update from the league. Otherwise we are set against Galaxy at 6:30 on the same field as the last game.
Pictures 9/19/2009
FIRE has been rescheduled for pictures this Saturday at 11:00 w/Mehrdad (9/19/2009).
Practice and Hot Mama chit chat
We were only missing one player at practice yesterday that I noticed. So hopefully the girls will all use what they learned in the game tomorrow. This team has some serious talent that will be more than blazing when they click into place. I don't want to miss a thing!
Girls remember you are a team, one gal CANNOT win the day or save the day without her teammates. Defense saves the day, Offense wins the day, lets show 'em our FIRE!
Hot Mama "B"URN is takin' over the snacks for the steamy FIRE this game, I've got the game on 9/24/2009 against Crew. Are there any volunteers for the game 10/1/2009 against United?
Enjoy the practice pictures...no filter this time, see ya'll tomorrow!

3-1 Dynamo - FIRE will have to be stoked! UPDATED.
Here are a few pictures to tide you all over until I get a little time to add the commentary. This was a tough one to write about so stay tuned...and sing "Rain Rain go away on Thursday!"

Remember..."Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." - Albert Einstein

- Heart - Team Fire has heart, we didn't give up no matter what the conditions. That proves the DESIRE these girls have to fight together.
- Teamwork - There were some of the best passes on the field I've seen in U10. If these skills could be honed...WOW!
- Skills - Stopping, turning, dribbling and attacking that ball were evident throughout the game, it was very impressive for this soccer mom to watch.
What We Can Do Better:
- Goalies - Rush the ball, use your hands in the box...if you pick it up they can't touch it, make quick decisions on throwing and kicking it back to team members...head up; look for the best opening FAST. Don't hesitate, it gives them (the other team) too much time to think about and watch your movements.
- Positions - Defense was too far forward, offense was too far back. Strikers are NOT sweepers, keep positions whenever possible and keep open for those awesome passes I know you are all capable of (I saw them).
- Teamwork - There were some really incredible individual efforts but to win you must be "firing" on all 6 cylinders! Spread out, think about your teammates, give them someone to pass too when they get in trouble!!!
We had everything against us this first game; new team mates, new style, strong opponent and a saturated field...but FIRE still burned on that field, let's learn from our losses and build on those lessons.

Let's get FIRED UP!
At practice we had a discussion about picture time and the game time...I did a little research and read the emails again. We are scheduled to have our pictures taken at 9:00A.M. Saturday, the 12Th. If you've been involved in any Fall FSL season, you know it's hectic so try to be there early and we'll get the girls together.
Our game is set for 10:00A.M. on filed 4B. We are also GREY JERSEYS on the schedule, I think that symbolizes "home" team, but I'm not sure, this is new for FSL this year as far as I know.
Now on to the fun stuff! We've got some nicknames already workin' and this is were my fun begins, "Toomb Raider", "Little P", "G-Mack" (is that right?), I have one in mind for someone who trooped through a nose bleed tonight: "Little Trooper" but I will always sway to the COACH! I have a few on the back burner for the defenders tonight at practice. I think I will wait for some until after the first game...and consult with Coach. My chickie wants "Hollywood" as she was last year but I think I agree with coach and she may need a new one. Don't worry if you don't get one immediately, it's all in what the coach sees and what your personality on the field relays.
Get ready Dynamo - Fire is ready to bring you woe...FA S(H)IZZLE!
