The Awesomeness of FIRE!

I think our girls are HOT HOT HOT under the collar. The natives are restless, parents. And this being an all girl team I think the season has gotten a little intense and as girls will - they are nipping at each other a bit. They are feeling the pressure from us, friends, teammates and working themselves up on top of it.

I know I have a hot head in my house and she covers her anxiety by striking out at those close to her. I just want to say, on her behalf, she's got 'tude, but is sensitive too...she loves her team, she loves soccer, she loves to win but she is human, therefore, with flaws. Every gal on this team has so much in the way of skills. Everyone has worked so hard this season and I hope that we/they all remember that this is for FUN and learning. It's OK to have an off game, blow off steam and vent a little. But it is not OK to be a bad sportsman(gal).

Gals, these are your team members, whether you like them as buds or not, be supportive, be encouraging and most of all RESPECT each other. You are all strong players, and you can not win without EACH OTHER! This is a TEAM sport and EVERYONE has oopsies. Cool the coals on team members...FIRE it up against the opponent we face on Thursday, 6:30 field 4A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. We're #2, if you work together, you can take it away from Dynamo Saturday!

FIRE can be unquenchable...let's make it happen THIS WEEK! GO FIRE!

3-1 FIRE! We sealed the DEAL!

This is going to be a multi-post! I have too many pictures...and I want EVERY gal featured, this is a team effort. Every one of these girls made this win happen! Although the scorers were "Hollywood" and "G-Mack", we could not have scored or burned the field without the TEAM!
I'll post more pictures tomorrow - hopefully with team placement in the tournament roster!
I'll let these pictures tell the tale of how FIRE is...SMOKIN'!

2-0 FIRE Takes It Again!

It sure wasn't a fluke that FIRE took the win last week against GALAXY. Our girls definitely remembered how hard it was to keep the ball out of the swimming pools on the field to pretty much wipe the field with some tough competitors. Tonight these gals proved that they were aggressive AND determined not to let GALAXY upset them after such an undeniable win.

FIRE singed the field with sparks a flyin' off those cleats. I was so proud of all of our gals for the effort that was in this game. I just love cheering them on...sorry if I get a little over zealous...I am like a moth to this flame. Let's keep those coals HOT and kick it UP for CREW Thursday at 5:30 Field 4A!

6-0! FIRE ROCKS THE HOUSE!

Ha! The weather couldn't keep the flame tampted down! Let's just see if we can keep the home fires burnin' Monday at 6:30 against Galaxy again. Watch out for Brooke and Sarah...the ones always falling down. Don't let them fool ya, they are serious about their offense and will not hesitate to elbow.

Thanks to coach Alix for this team picture! It's all about the FIRE!

Thanks ya'll for being patient with me, I haven't been very good at keeping up the blog, but I think I can get back into it now. Schedule has been tight!

It was great to see the G-Mack, Little P, and Hollywood at "K"Rocks party on Saturday - we'll have to get these gals all together outside of soccer again! Maybe we can do an end of season cook out! (I'll talk to the Hubbie/Grillin' Master.)

See ya Monday!

FIRE 2009

I'll have game highlights and soccer mom commentary in another post, but for now, just look at these girls. Aren't they AWESOME?! We will miss Little Trooper in the upcoming games this season. She was a driving force for this team and will be sorely missed. Those of us left behind will have to step up.
Keep on playin' the game...you've got SKILL!

2-1 FIRE! United...FIRE fights with FIRE!

The only thing louder than the cheers were the whistles blowing in our ears!
  • Ok, if you haven't gone to see the www.mayouthsoccer.org/video/attitudes.wmv video sent out by FSL, maybe you should. I know I am guilty as charged of sideline coaching and not knowing what the heck I'm talking about. That said, I'm still going to cheer and urge our winning team on, just with no other instructions other than GO (insert name here), and FIRE IT UP, etc! Somebody thump me if I do anything else.
  • Now on to the action! What an intense and crowded game this was. It was a little hard to pass during this game because UNITED was bunching up around the ball so much, but FIRE prevailed in the end and succeeded in showing UNITED how it's supposed to be done. Girls - now do you see what the Coach is doing? He's working you hard so that you are prepared. Stick with it...the hard work is showing up in these games. No matter that there were a lot of calls that we may not have understood, just follow Coach and the refs...and be nice to the refs in training.
  • We have some fast runners on FIRE...we all know Hollywood can run (and that's not just a proud Mama talkin' - I'm still in awe), G-Mack (aka mini bomb) wowed this soccer mom with her fireball charges; outwitting and outrunning UNITED to set the attack tone. Little Trooper never ceases to amaze with her speed AND control combined with determination...always with a smile (OH SHOOT - I didn't put a picture in this entry...I'm sorry that was a mistake on my part, did I miss anyone else?). This game I saw some real smoke coming off the cleats of Little "P", she was attacking and trying to break up the fray with her composed cool demeanor...trying to open up, nice moves.
  • ToombRaider and "K" Force (sorry you were so bored in the second half "K" force...not as much action when your offense and defense are so fierce) made their presence known by heating up the back burners and holding off UNITED and stealing some passes they thought were sure to tamp down our flames. They seemed to be in the right spot at the right moment to be a firewall! Syd The Vicious also was a force to be contended with; she cornered that ball and kept it to the sides and turned it back up the field coming up against the UNITED power kicker...don't know her name but when we see her again on the field BACK PEDDLE!
  • "K" Rock as a rookie goalie this game ROCKED the house! Only letting in one goal, and directing her force to keep it that way. She is an awesome defender that really digs in to hoist that ball up for offense to take over - whether in the goal or not you SAVED THE DAY!
  • A few things I have to mention, just because they were soooo HOT HOT HOT...the headers! I was so impressed to see not one, not two, but I think I saw three FIRE gals use headers this game! Wahoo, great use of lessons from practice! Next, I was so proud that FIRE dug in the second half. You gals did NOT let that one goal by UNITED get you down. You showed your heart, you showed your desire and took it to a second win. Let's keep the momentum going!
Now the business stuff...
  • Practices until further notice will be at the park across from the K-1 Center from 6:00 to 6:30 because it's getting darker sooner.
  • Thursdays game is at 5:30 against the COMETS. WEAR RED JERSEY!!!! I've got the snacks. It's on Field 4B.
  • Don't forget the re-match against GALAXY. It's scheduled for Saturday Oct. 10th at 11:00. We have a conflict and I've heard of one other, please let the coach know if this is an issue, we don't want to forfeit - I may be able to have Hollywood there without me, but that would be buttering up the enemy...LOL!

See ya'll Tuesday at practice (or Monday if your doing Blast)!

UNITED...FIRE will stand against you...

Ok, girls...get ready to set FIRE to Field 4A on Thursday 5:30 sharp! Bring out your best, and wear your GREY jersey.

Coach and all of us FIRE followers were revved up and ready for more after last weeks game. Let's keep it together and remember the drills from practice. Work together, HEADS UP, make sure you are open to accept passes or make sure there is someone there to accept your pass. Don't hesitate on those throw-ins, find your team, drag your toe and ATTACK!

Let's go FIRE, LET'S GO!

5-1 FIRE! Holy Smoke!

Did you see that? I'm sorry to all you soccer dads that are embarrassed by us enthusiastic soccer moms, but when our girls are playing their hearts out it's too hard to resist the urge to add kindling to this FIRE! We've got us a team that sizzles.

The first half of Thursdays game was a steamrolling tactic - intimidating the opponent - Coach, I'm sure, couldn't have been more proud. Next game I hope that heat can be maintained into the second half. Maybe it will be a tad cooler so that FIRE will be the only heat on that field.

FIRE went right into offensive mode and didn't let up the whole first half. Goal after smokin' goal went in. They started off by a blistering center shot by lefty "Hollywood". As I look at the pictures that goal was brought about by a power assist by Syd. She cut off two players on CREW to open the field for that possibility.

Not even a breath later we had a power punch to goal by Syd the Vicious herself! Oh yes she did - she pounded that ball in with no quarter given. This time G-Mack (mini bomb) and Hollywood held the opponent off surrounding the ball slinging Syd to GOAL!

Things were just getting a little steamy when Hollywood snuck in another stinger (This time with a right hook) thanks to a MAJOR assist from "Lil' Trooper" who kept the ball in site of Crews goal with her severe concentration and tenacity. I think she's gotten over the practice nose bleed and was all over that ball!

Now on to the unnick-named "K" RAH RAH kick em in the knee (or in this case, GOAL!) "K" Rock (kinda like that) on defense decided we didn't have enough points and our offense was doing such a good job of keeping the ball up field that in a defensive/offensive maneuver sprang a roller into the goal from almost mid field that caught CREW unawares. She was so far from the goal, I have 8 frames of ball rolling right past their goalie. Sweet is the sound of the cheering crowd!

There was a lull in the game, the crowd was hushed, many attempts to charge our goal (more on our HOT HOT HOT defense later) and we were thinking; half time is quickly approaching, when out of nowhere little G-Mack steals the ball from Crew 47 and beats out their defender, who was still reeling from our other offensive players Hollywood and Lil Trooper, to confuse their goalie by slipping a quick jab into the GOAL by side stepping her last ditch effort to guard! It was an awesome thing.

The second half was just as exciting but it was filled with OH SO CLOSE shots fired. I think our girls tired out but were still pushing themselves to cook us up some points.

Now I need to focus on those gals that may think they've been left out. We all have a taste for the goals, it's always wonderful to be a part of a winning team, but that can't happen without THE TEAM. If it weren't for Little P, ToombRaider, "K"Rock (and another K) "K" Force-not to be reckoned with, this win would not have happened. Oh yes, they were all there diligently passing and defending all working together to make sure that that ball stayed up field. A few tries at goals that were just a little off happened but since the defense had been so intense throughout the game we forget to think on anything but the pushes to the goal. WOW! "K" Force is outstanding at pacing her defenders and watching her goal at the same time. We really need to remember that! I know I focused a lot on the goals, but I've said it before and I will say it ALL THE TIME...Offense wins the day, Defense SAVES the day! This match, both where used liberally.

OK, I've been a little wordy...and I have tons more pictures! Hopefully, you can click on each image for a larger view, I made them smaller to fit more in. See you all at practice on Tuesday.

FIRE is fast...

Well, we had a little hair swishin'...

And a bit of a pre-play conferencin'

And a lot of linin'!

What we had missing were some great shots of the action! I'm a novice with my camera in low light at this point and this whole "image stabilization" thing is NOT workin' yet (sorry). That cannot take away from the AWESOME practice FIRE had tonight! We are really seeing things come together and I think FIRE is going to show CREW who's WHO on Thursday. WE ARE FIRE, AND WE ARE GONNA BURN YOU UP!

Shout out to all the HOT Mamas
Thank you so much for all stepping up for the game snack schedule! Ya'll ROCK! I think we have all games covered but one, and I'll take this one since I have something a little special planned that game. I'll email the schedule in a bit so everyone knows who has what in case of scheduling conflicts. Once again thank you for bringing your girls and supporting TEAM FIRE!

Let's get 'em girls, remember SAD! Sizzlin' Agression DOMINATES! (Oh wait, the coach never said that...)

See you Thursday at 5:30 Field 4B - WEAR YOUR GREY! FIRE IT UP, FIRE IT UP!

Flames and Stuff - Burn Baby!

Game 9/17/2009 (Galaxy - we are RED jersey this game)
The jury is still out for Game play tomorrow, if we get any rain (and it's raining now here) they may cancel, please check emails before heading out for an update from the league. Otherwise we are set against Galaxy at 6:30 on the same field as the last game.

Pictures 9/19/2009
FIRE has been rescheduled for pictures this Saturday at 11:00 w/Mehrdad (9/19/2009).

Practice and Hot Mama chit chat
We were only missing one player at practice yesterday that I noticed. So hopefully the girls will all use what they learned in the game tomorrow. This team has some serious talent that will be more than blazing when they click into place. I don't want to miss a thing!

Girls remember you are a team, one gal CANNOT win the day or save the day without her teammates. Defense saves the day, Offense wins the day, lets show 'em our FIRE!

Hot Mama "B"URN is takin' over the snacks for the steamy FIRE this game, I've got the game on 9/24/2009 against Crew. Are there any volunteers for the game 10/1/2009 against United?

Enjoy the practice pictures...no filter this time, see ya'll tomorrow!
