- Ok, if you haven't gone to see the www.mayouthsoccer.org/video/attitudes.wmv video sent out by FSL, maybe you should. I know I am guilty as charged of sideline coaching and not knowing what the heck I'm talking about. That said, I'm still going to cheer and urge our winning team on, just with no other instructions other than GO (insert name here), and FIRE IT UP, etc! Somebody thump me if I do anything else.
- Now on to the action! What an intense and crowded game this was. It was a little hard to pass during this game because UNITED was bunching up around the ball so much, but FIRE prevailed in the end and succeeded in showing UNITED how it's supposed to be done. Girls - now do you see what the Coach is doing? He's working you hard so that you are prepared. Stick with it...the hard work is showing up in these games. No matter that there were a lot of calls that we may not have understood, just follow Coach and the refs...and be nice to the refs in training.
- We have some fast runners on FIRE...we all know Hollywood can run (and that's not just a proud Mama talkin' - I'm still in awe), G-Mack (aka mini bomb) wowed this soccer mom with her fireball charges; outwitting and outrunning UNITED to set the attack tone. Little Trooper never ceases to amaze with her speed AND control combined with determination...always with a smile (OH SHOOT - I didn't put a picture in this entry...I'm sorry that was a mistake on my part, did I miss anyone else?). This game I saw some real smoke coming off the cleats of Little "P", she was attacking and trying to break up the fray with her composed cool demeanor...trying to open up, nice moves.
- ToombRaider and "K" Force (sorry you were so bored in the second half "K" force...not as much action when your offense and defense are so fierce) made their presence known by heating up the back burners and holding off UNITED and stealing some passes they thought were sure to tamp down our flames. They seemed to be in the right spot at the right moment to be a firewall! Syd The Vicious also was a force to be contended with; she cornered that ball and kept it to the sides and turned it back up the field coming up against the UNITED power kicker...don't know her name but when we see her again on the field BACK PEDDLE!
- "K" Rock as a rookie goalie this game ROCKED the house! Only letting in one goal, and directing her force to keep it that way. She is an awesome defender that really digs in to hoist that ball up for offense to take over - whether in the goal or not you SAVED THE DAY!
- A few things I have to mention, just because they were soooo HOT HOT HOT...the headers! I was so impressed to see not one, not two, but I think I saw three FIRE gals use headers this game! Wahoo, great use of lessons from practice! Next, I was so proud that FIRE dug in the second half. You gals did NOT let that one goal by UNITED get you down. You showed your heart, you showed your desire and took it to a second win. Let's keep the momentum going!
Now the business stuff...
- Practices until further notice will be at the park across from the K-1 Center from 6:00 to 6:30 because it's getting darker sooner.
- Thursdays game is at 5:30 against the COMETS. WEAR RED JERSEY!!!! I've got the snacks. It's on Field 4B.
- Don't forget the re-match against GALAXY. It's scheduled for Saturday Oct. 10th at 11:00. We have a conflict and I've heard of one other, please let the coach know if this is an issue, we don't want to forfeit - I may be able to have Hollywood there without me, but that would be buttering up the enemy...LOL!
See ya'll Tuesday at practice (or Monday if your doing Blast)!
